What's happening in 2019

5th January - Kilmarnock - judge Mrs K Jenkinson - Fetlar won Open and BOB and then Gundog Group 2.

Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM - 4 yr old male Blue Belton who stood has the loveliest clean flowing lines with a superb masculine head correct depth of muzzle and eye colour.  Excellent reach of neck free from throatiness.  Great depth of brisket and straight front.  Stood on lovely feet and excellent bone.  Shoulders set well back.  Body well developed and rib well rounded and set back.  Lovely hard topline flowing into correct tailset.  Well muscled quarters with great second thigh.  Turned out in the best of coats and condition.  Moving with drive from behind soundly around the ring.  BOB & Gp 2 

6th January - Paisley - judge Suzanne Backhouse - Fetlar won Open and BOB

Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM - BOB.  This boy has a lovely head and expression, excels in neck into well set back shoulders, deep in chest, straight front with rounded bone.  Strong muscular quarters, correct tail set, stylish mover driving from behind. 

19th January - Manchester Championship Show - judge Chris Bexon - What a start to the year!  Fetlar won Open Dog and then was awarded the Dog CC, his third, making him a Show Champion.  So proud of this boy. 

26th January - Kirkintilloch - judge Barbara Scorgie - Fetlar won Open and was awarded BOB 

Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM . 4 year old proud, elegant, blue belton male, demanding instant attention, well balanced through and through, oozing breed type.  Lovely head, eye and expression, square muzzle, excellent long neck into well laid shoulders, deep chest.  Just sailed round the ring very happily.

 

3rd February - MESS Championship Show - Judge Jo Howarth - Fetlar won Open Dog and was then awarded RCC

1st Thompson's Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM this was just a tough class to judge, this dog is a favourite of mine, recently gained his title, he's a worthy Sh Ch, he commands attention, he took my eye as he entered the ring. Balanced head of good shape, loved his expressions, super front, well bodied, good turn if stifle, good feet, hocks well let down, in the class moved well with great forward reach, unfortunately in the challenge lacked sparkle if the CC winner - but that's splitting hairs, shown in hard condition RCC.

I last judged this dog as a puppy and pleased to see him today. Quality blue belton of 4 years old presented in excellent condition. He has a handsome head of balanced proportions with typical expressive eyes, low set ears. Good reach of neck into good lay of shoulder flowing into strong level topline. Nicely muscled and constructed hindquarters. Shown in full coat. Moved around the ring with good driving action.

 

17th February - Waverley Gundogs - judge Sue Tillett - Fetlar won Open Dog and was awarded BOB 

Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd  JW ShCM - Blue Belton with a masculine head and good eye colour.  Good front and level topline.  Well laid shoulders, good bone and nice feet. Beautiful coat and moved well with drive.  BOB 

23rd February - Irvine - judges Brian Beaton and Lesley McNaughton - Fetlar won Open , BOB and Gundog Group 3.

Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM. Stunning dog and so well presented.  Masculine head with no coarseness and he has a wonderful expression.  Well constructed with a good front and neat feet.  Lovely outline and a good tailset.  A very sound mover with a good tail action.  Pleased to see him go group 3. 

24th February - Catrine - judge Maxine McCullough - Fetlar won Open and BOB

Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM.Mature 4 year old male, strong in head, dark eyes, deep chest and well bodied. Correct length of neck into good shoulders, good firm topline and good rear angles. 

2nd March - South West Scotland Gundog Association - judge Jackie Corfield -Fetlar won Open Dog, BOB and then under judge Stewart Cummings

RESERVE BEST IN SHOW. 

3rd March - Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland Top Gundog Competition - Fetlar was invited to take part as one of the top winning gundogs in Scotland, and reached the semi-finals under judge Jackie Ward.

7th March - Crufts - judge Val Isherwood - Fetlar was placed VHC in a very strong Open Dog class. 

23rd March - Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland Open Show - Judge Richard French- Fetlar won the Open class and then was awarded BOB.  In the full gundog group, he was shortlisted by judge Tom Graham. 

Thomson's Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM .  Wow! What a pleasure to go over this dog.  Absolute quality from nose to tail.  So good to see an English Setter of this size and quality.  Super head, not over done in any way.  Good reach of neck into good front.  Super well ribbed back.  Excellent tail set.  Powerful hind quarters that gave him the drive on the move where he maintained his super top line.  No hesitation in awarding him BOB. 

30th March - West Lothian - Judge J McLaine.  Fetlar won Open and BOB 

7th April - English Setter Society of Wales - Judge Maureen Collier -Fetlar was placed 2nd in Open Dog.

Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM. Lighter blue, lean in head with a kind expression.  Shown in good coat. Moved using his tail correctly. 

14th April -  English Setter Association - Judge Stella Oliver - Fetlar was placed 4th in Open Dog.

21st April - Clydebank - Judge Louis Poynter - Fetlar was placed 1st in Open and BOB 

 27th April - Drongan - Judge Doreen McGuigan - Fetlar was placed 1st in Open, BOB and then Gundog Group 3.  This gave him his final point for his Show Certificate of Excellence so he will now be known as :

4th May - Northern English Setter Society - Judge Mel Sharples - Fetlar was placed first in Open Dog, then Best Dog and then

Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd.  5 year old BB dog.  This dog certainly needs no introduction.  Oozes ring presence and floated round the ring, so light on his toes, but moves with real purpose.  I judged him as a young dog and he has just improved as time has gone on.  Most handsome expression with the kindest eyes. Arched neck into oblique shoulders, fabulous straight front with a deep set rib with plenty of heart room.  Well muscled hindquarters and an ever happy tail.  So pleased to have gone over him now as an established male.  Easily BD and BIS 

4th May - Northern English Setter Society - Judge Bex Martin - Fetlar was placed firt in Open Dog.

Thomson's Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM .  Well off for bone and condition.  Kind head and expression, level topline, shown in full coat, moved ok.

12th May - Cumnock - Judge Wilma McFarlane - Fetlar was placed first in Open, then BOB then Gundog Group 4 

Thomson's Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM.  Handsome blue dog 4 years.  Gorgeous masculine head with no coarseness and lovely dark eye.  Good reach of neck, good shoulder placement.  Plenty of depth through ribcage.  Moved with drive from strong well angulated hindquarters.  happy showman, shown in dripping coat.  BOB and Gp4 

17th May - SKC - Judge J Horswell - Fetlar was placed first in Open Dog 

Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd JW ShCM. Liked his outline, elegant but masculine.  Quite deep in stop, lovely eye and expression.  Could be cleaner in throat.  Moderate neck.  Shoulder could be slightly better laid.  Well sprung rib.  Level topline.  Well coupled.  Well set tail.  Enough hind angulation.  Accurate out and back .

24th May - Bath - Judge Jenny Day.  Fetlar was placed 3rd in Open Dog. 

2nd June - Southern Counties - Judge Mrs J Miller.  Fetlar was placed 1st in Open Dog, then awarded the Dog CC, and then Reserve Best of Breed. 

Today this was a stand out boy, just loved his outline and looked stunning across the ring.  Very impressive on the stance, covers the ground well with lovely balance, masculine and strongly built.  Slightly stronger in skull but head is well balanced, almond shaped dark alert kind eye, nicely set leathers well furnished.  Proud head carriage, good length of muscular neck set well into laid back shoulders.  Well angulated upper arm, elbows held in on straight strongly boned legs and tight compact feet.  A firm level backline over a super body with great substance and ribs well sprung and back into short loin, a flat well feathered B/B coat so well presented with lovely feathering, muscled hindquarters, good return of stifle and second thigh and short straight hocks.  Moved out with good stride, very sound with good reach and drive. 

9th June - Three Counties - judge Frank Kane - Fetlar was placed second in Open Dog.

5 year old who is a sound quality dog.  He has a very good ribcage, topline and tailset. 

15th June - Border Union - judge Maggie McCabe - Fetlar was placed first in Open then, then Dog CC , then Best of Breed.

This well constructed masculine blue dog who is now looking his best in tip top condition,  He moved so well around the ring I could not deny giving him the CC and Best of Breed. 

15th June - ESS of S - judge Sandra Full - Fetlar was placed second in Open Dog.

22nd June - Blackpool - judge Moray Amstrong - Fetlar was placed third in Open Dog. 

29th June - Windsor - judge Wilma Reid - Fetlar was placed 2nd in Open Dog. 

7th July - Peterborough - judge Gerry Morroll - Fetlar was placed 3rd in Open Dog

20th July - Northern English Setter Society - Judge Anne Derry - Fetlar was placed 2nd in Open Dog.
